Anise or Pimpinella anisum, is a flowering plant closely related to carrots, celery and parsley. The plant produces small white fruits which we know as aniseed. Anise Seed has a very identifiable black licorice taste and is a common additive to baked goods, desserts and as a flavoring for alcohol. Anise isn’t just prized for its sweet flavor, there are many beneficial properties that these tiny seeds possess.

Aniseed is micronutrient dense and is a good source of iron. Anise also contains antimicrobial properties that help to prevent the growth of bacteria which can cause infection.
